The invasion of Israel by terrorists this past weekend conjured up memories of carnage not seen since the days of the Third Reich. This should be our wake-up call. If you’ve been ignoring the problems caused by the Biden administration’s open border policies, this past weekend’s invasion of Israel by murderous thugs is a home invasion wake up call to the dangers of unsecured borders. The breeched borders of Israel led to modern day genocide. Israel supposedly had “secure,” borders. They were caught off guard. But just think and profoundly ponder the perilous potential of what might happen with “open borders.” For the first three years of the Biden Administration, for all intents and purposes, that is what we have had, open borders. This puts us in great peril. [1]
This year November 9-10 is the 84th anniversary of Kristallnacht, a time when normally humane citizens were stirred to a frenzy with propaganda and set loose like a pack of savage dogs on Jews, their businesses, and property. It was a time when people in Germany were conjured into believing that Jews were the cause of all their problems. It was a night of broken glass. Glass storefronts were bricked and broken and pillaged like Atila the Hun would do. This past weekend another Kristallnacht was perpetrated. It was perpetrated by those possessed by the same spirit of Abaddon that led to the genocide of six million Jews in World War II. We used to say, and might have thought, “that could never happen again, not in our day and age.” Well, after what happened this past weekend, we should think that no more.
The reports and gruesome pictures of 250+ young people savagely gunned down in a field, the elderly murdered in the streets, whole families massacred, and babies ripped from their mother’s arms in a rampage of blood lust backed by a so called “religion of peace,” all this should make clear that Satan is alive and well today. At last estimates over a thousand people were mercilessly mowed down. In the Last Days it says people will be “unloving,” and “brutal” (2 Timothy 3:1-5). Jesus said, “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold” (Matthew 24:12). We saw that this weekend. Love was stomped to the ground. The white and blue Star of David flag of Israel was once again stained with the red blood of her martyrs.
We look at all of this and put our hand to our mouth in horror. It was an inhumane slaughter that shook anyone with any sense of the sanctity of life. But there is a lesson to learn for us and our nation, and any sovereign nation. All of this is proof that border security is an issue that if ignored could cause unbearable pain.
Those who live on the borders know how important a fence, vigilance, and guards are. They know the value of security, or the lack thereof. They also know how only when illegal immigrants were sent to blue cities and these cities felt the practical pains of such policies and complained, yes only then did Biden begin to change his policy. You see, he has an election to win and doesn’t want to lose voters. We should all remember that whether we see ourselves as blue or red politically. If we let enemies within our gates, we are all endangered.
As we learn more about what exactly happened in Israel, we gain more insight. Apparently Israel, one of the most secure nations on earth, with actively guarded border fences, was deceptively lured to sleep by wolves in sheep’s clothing who pretended peace. The savages waited until the restful ways of a Sabbath people to pounce on their prey. It was a devilish deception no doubt birthed by the father of lies, Satan himself. Predators always use deceit to prey on their victims.
There was no mercy shown by the wolves, and justly, no mercy is being shown in retaliation. It’s been a crushing response, but the damage has been done. You can’t unmurder victims. Life can’t be put back into the lost families. A war response can’t truly comfort such deep pains away.
All of this should wake us up. It should wake us up to wise compassion. We should not be soured to love and the care of those truly in need. But we should not stupidly stoop to an unvetting national policy toward strangers. The purpose of government is to protect its people. Swinging the gate open to terrorist wolves in sheep’s clothing hiding among the genuine hope seeking immigrant sheep, puts everyone, especially us, at risk.
In Ronald Reagan’s A Time of Choosing speech of October 27, 1964, he said the United States was “the last best hope of man on earth.” President Reagan said without this nation the world faces “a thousand years of darkness.” [2] In a world being steered toward globalism and open borders where the wolves run in packs and prey their way to domination, the United States is, in many ways, the last best hope of those seeking a place of liberty to flourish. That’s why so many want to come here. That’s also why so many come here with evil intent.
Our enemies have sympathizers within our borders. There are those who hate our country. They seek forced “equity” through socialist and communist systems. They try to crush the life out of our Constitution. They abuse and misuse the Bill of Rights. They look at the carnage in Israel and applaud the monstrous tactics of a so-called “oppressed” people. But when Israel brings the hammer down, they plead for peace. We are not unaware of their devices. Their darkness is being exposed day by day. We live in a fallen world filled with predators. To live with open borders is on a national scale to remove your door locks, open every access point, and invite everyone outside to come in and enjoy a free for all to your property. It’s to throw caution to the wind. It’s to live by the motto of the Great Reset, “own nothing and be happy about it.”[3] But there is a price, a very steep price. It will cost you your freedom as you are maneuvered into position to depend on big government for everything. And if you depend on big government for everything, that means you are under their control.
The push for open borders is part of a global initiative to eliminate sovereign nations and vest authority in an elite privileged few. Open borders are a yard sale with no price tags. Some will come to merely take, to steal. Others will come to abuse and misuse. Some will come to victimize, to rape, to torture, to persecute, to murder, to destroy. And all of it is to earn your dependence and to enslave you. Look at the big picture to understand the significance of open borders. Look at the prophetic picture to understand.
Prophetically a time is coming when the world will consist of a global network likely composed of ten regions over which particular figure rises to power. This figure is referred to in the Bible as the Antichrist. There have been many “antichrists,” in history, people who present themselves as substitutes for Christ (1 John 2:18). It is through this system with no sovereign states but a globally connected government that a particular Antichrist above all other antichrists rise to power and subjugate the world. This Antichrist will be powered by Satan and be presented as the Savior of the world (cf. Revelation 13). This is the direction in which the world is headed.
It should be noted that there is no “United States” to rely on in the prophetic picture God has provided us. Prophetically speaking it looks like Ronald Reagan’s worst fears will be realized. That should not shake those whose ultimate citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20). But it should not relegate us to sitting on the bench and doing nothing either. We need to get in the game and play with all our heart. What are we to do?
How do we solve this border crisis? I’m no politician, but it would seem to me that building a wall is a good first step. Even Biden now recognizes this. [4] But border walls, thorough vetting of immigrants, and limiting immigration is not the final solution. Historically, The Final Solution of which began with Kristallnacht, was about eliminating a people group. The border crisis is about treating people humanely while maintaining our security. That needs to be done on two levels: societal and spiritual. I’ve already mentioned the societal need for border security. Now we need to turn to the more fundamental solution.
Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life. And that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Truer words, more appropriate words, have never been spoken for such a time as this. It is only when we turn to Jesus as Savior that our problems can truly be solved. Our choice is destruction or abundant life in Christ. When we look at what happened in Israel we see stark evidence that “the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked.” We see the dark hearted destruction that happened in Israel, and we wonder, “Who can know it?” Who can know or change the heart that would do such things? The answer is, “I the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings” (Jeremiah 17:9-10). We must turn to the LORD for answers, for solutions.
I’m not a pacifist. I don’t believe pacifism is Biblical. I believe there is such a thing as a just war. I believe government is meant to keep the peace. “For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. . . if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil” (Romans 13:1-4). These are the words of the LORD. This dispels any cockamamie notion that we can achieve peace through passivism. Students of history remember the fatal attempt of Neville Chamberland to pacify Adolf Hitler. Chamberland met with Hitler and came home waving a peace treaty in his hand. We all know how that turned out. It merely gave an antichrist dictator more time to plan his wicked ways.
Ultimately the only way “a thousand years of darkness” can be transformed into a thousand years of peace is through the Prince of Peace (c.f. Revelation 20:4-6). Only when Satan is bound, and the King of kings is seated on His throne will we experience a little bit of heaven on earth. But even then, there will be a final battle (Revelation 20:1-3, and 7-10). Our ultimate hope is a New Earth and a New Heaven (Revelation 21-22). But what do we do until then? We don’t have to wait until the end, to experience “abundant life.” We can begin to experience that abundant, full, purposeful, meaningful, life right now.
Now I know some of you were cheering me on when you thought this a purely political article. Others were ready to write me off as a “hater,” or for daring to wax political. And when this article turned “spiritual,” those initially in favor possibly switched sides and looked down on me and those once looking down on me saw reason to rejoice. Maybe you have mixed feelings. But whatever side you are on, whatever worldview you come from, the answers and solutions are found in the One who said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” That Person is Jesus. He is the way out of our worldly messes. He is the truthful answer to all our questions. And He is the eternal life giving One. He also concluded, “No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). Until we learn to accept that truth, our destiny is dark and many more Kristallnachts lay in our future, not just for the Jews, but for anyone who goes against the pervasive predators of this world.
Why do I believe that? Because of the heart of each person. The world’s problem has always been, is now, and always will be, a heart problem. Our heart is desperately wicked. But the God of old promised first to His people, and then to all humanity that, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a new heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them” (Ezekiel 36:26-27). That’s what we all need. Can anyone doubt that what was so heartlessly perpetrated in Israel was perpetrated by stony hearted people?
This need of a new heart is why in the New Testament Jesus said, “You must be born again” (John 3:3, 5, and 7). This is why it says, “that if you confess with you mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation” (Romans 10:9-10). We need a heart transplant. We need that globally. We need that nationally. We need that individually.
We need a new heart. Only Jesus can give us a new heart. With His new heart we can experience what the Bible says, “if anyone is in Christ, he is a anew creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). And all of this is possible because, “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus said eternal life is “knowing Him” (John 17:3). The entire purpose of receiving a new heart, is to have a heart suited to knowing Jesus and growing in that relationship. That is what it means to be “in Christ.” “In Christ,” our perspectives change, our heart is filled with the love of God poured into us by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). Such love is life changing and can be world changing.
Sin is our problem throughout the world, everywhere, throughout history. Sin separates us from God and His solutions to our sin problems (Isaiah 59:1-2). Our problems are BIG, HUGE, too big, and huge for us to deal with. We need a Sea parting God and One who walks on water and stills storms and defeats the death of this world. We need a Savior. We need Jesus. All our problems are traceable to sin and sinful people. And sin takes residence in the heart. We all fall short of the glorious plans for which God created us (Romans 3:23). Sin is the cause of atheism and every alternative to the truth bound up in Jesus. That is not merely non-inclusive, that is TRUTH. Life is binary. You either know Jesus or you don’t. You are either going to heaven or going to hell. You are either part of the solution or part of the problem. There is no middle ground.
Not everyone who claims to belong to Jesus, belongs to Jesus. Not everyone who claims to be Christian is indeed, “Christian.” That reality has given people a lot of reason to reject the gospel. Some “Christians” really are “haters.” Some “Christians” act in very unchristlike ways. Such are devoid of the Spirit and indeed are imposters and counterfeits. Rejecting the gospel has led to great confusion in who we are as individuals. Without Christ people use “love is love,” to justify all the sinful things that lead to emptiness and unfulfillment. Without Christ religions concocted “gods” who are capricious, cutthroat, and sponsors of calamity. Without Christ the “gospel” has become a carnal means to “prosperity” and self-rule through “words of faith,” that attempt to secure our own pleasures and wants. There was good reason in the first century that Paul said, “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted – you may well put up with it” (2 Corinthians 11:3-4). Those who have bought into “another Jesus,” “a different spirit,” or “a different gospel,” have only compounded our problems. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven” (Matthew 7:21). “Christian” you need to get right with God and start living for God’s purposes and not your own. “Christian,” stop adding to the problem. Don’t give the devil a foothold (Ephesians 4:27). Don’t be a stumbling block to those seeking God (e.g. Romans 14:13)
If you’ve bought into the delusion that humanity can resolve its problems on its own, I encourage you to look at history to see the fallacy of such thinking. “Wait a minute,” you might respond. “Hasn’t ‘Christianity’ been responsible for inquisitions and ‘holy wars,’ just like other religions throughout history?” False Christianity has been the culprit of much pain and suffering historically. And its true that even genuine Christians have strayed and done very unchristlike things, shameful things. Christians, genuine Christians, are a work in progress. This is why salvation is something offered to us as a gift of God’s grace, not based on our imperfect works. And this is why the Bible says, “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me” (1 Corinthians 15:10). To those who criticize Christianity in an attempt to dismiss it as a solution, I would only say this: I am not all I should be as a Christian. God is not finished with me; I am a work in progress. But because I am a Christian, I am far more than I would have ever become on my own without Jesus. An objective consideration of history and the impact and influence of Jesus and His followers on humanity will yield a world full of evidence that wherever the Christian influence is found that area and people are better for it. [5]
What happened in Isarel recently is proof that we need to put practical protections in place to guard against the predators of this world. We need to secure our borders. We need to address the very practical problems created by “woke” ideologies and worldviews that expose us to the base nature and dark hearted fiends of this world. We need to get right with God individually and nationally. This nation was arguably birthed under the influence of the First Great Awakening, a world revival. We need to pray for another Great Awakening that will right the ship and get us back on course. I suggest the following steps to accomplish this:
- Examine Yourself – “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? – unless indeed you are disqualified” (2 Corinthians 13:5). Everyone needs to examine themselves to see where they genuinely stand with God.
- Check Your Motivation – “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of sul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). Everyone needs to seek the Lord through His word to evaluate our motivations in every part of our lives.
- Apply God’s Word – Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15). “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). We need to begin living out the word of God and looking to it for our answers and solutions.
- Trust in God – “Ah, LORD God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. Ther eis nothing too hard for You” (Jeremiah 32:17). “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13). We need to turn to the LORD with all our heart begging Him for a reprieve and a Great Awakening. We need to first trust Jesus as Savior and Lord and be born again through faith in Him (John 3; Ephesians 2).
- Receive Power for Life – “Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts” (Zechariah 4:6). “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Once we have been born again, we need to receive the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to do what God calls us to do. We need to be continually filled with the Holy Spirit (e.g. Ephesians 5:18).
It’s time to wake up. I pray we never see anything again like what we saw this past weekend in Israel. But as long as people reject Jesus, it is likely it will happen again, over, and over. I pray there are no more Kristallnachts. I pray we receive this wake-up call. I pray we as Christians begin this process and lead the way. I pray we realize this is not a mere human venture of faith, but something we need to depend on the LORD to perform. I pray. You pray. We pray. Let’s pray and see what happens.
